Sunday Night Market Chiang Mai Thailand

Image
Oh, the Colors, Sounds, Lights, Food and People! If you are ever in Chiang Mai, Thailand on a Sunday make to stop by the Sunday Night Market within the Old City near the Eastern Gates. Earlier in the day while chillin on my rooftop I made friends with three of the most loveliest and funniest ladies. Once we worked up an appetite we hit the streets to the Sunday Night Market. It is quiet the good time exploring, dancing around, gawking at the goods and eating lots of yummy food.  This market is massive! How many blocks it takes up, I have no clue. What I do know is that the food was delicious, I had chicken on a stick from two different stands both equally awesome and some fried chicken gyoza, nom nom nom.  Are you looking to do some shopping or to just marvel at what the vendors sell? This is the perfect place. You will find anything from clothes, to art, hygiene care, penis whistles, and more! You can even get your haircut. I myself picked up an aloe bar of soap a

Chiang Dao Hut, Chiang Dao, Thailand

Chiang Dao Hut This cute little bungalow resort is the perfect getaway! I checked in yesterday afternoon to the Superior Bungalow, for my 2 nights amounting to $44 USD. This include my own bungalow, full bed, fan, private toilet, shower, sink, and free WiFi. The owners do not speak english very well but are extremely nice and helpful. On the patio included a hammock I really enjoyed reading in and two wooden lunges/benches that I made sure to take advantage of. There is a stunning garden/courtyard full of beauty and and amazing view of the third largest peak in Thailand! You can find many places to meditate, read, observe nature, etc.   It is less than a mile from the Chiang Dao Cave of Wat Tham that you can read about in my pervious blog posted. There is also a wildlife sanctuary, the Pong Arng Hotspring, and the Sri Sungwan Waterfalls. Next door to the Chiang Dao Hut you will find The Cave Camp which has pool, board games, music, drinks, along with Thai and Am

Finding Me Wherever I Maybe Says Sawatdeeka From Chiang Dao I decided to head to the jungle to relax before Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai. For the next couple of nights I have myself my own cute little bungalow at the Chiang Dao Hut. From Chiang Mai I caught a Tut Tut for 100 BAHT, taking me to the Chang Puak Bus station where I hoped on the orange bus for 40 BAHT. On this 3 hour adventure through towns, past lovely temples and rolling hills I made my first friend Paul.  Bus to Chiang Dao Upon arrival in Chiang Dao we took a taxi to my little bungalow for 70 Baht a piece.  Paul unfortunately went back to town but later picked me up on for my first moped ride.  We just road around the jungle at first before heading to explore the Chiang Dao Cave of Wat Tham. When walking up to the cave we turned a little too soon taking us on a mini trek through the jungle and exploring up the stairs to what seemed to be an abandoned building.  Once back on track the entrance was g

The Commute to Chiang Mai, Thailand

Mural in the Bangkok Airport This journey began from my home on Mt. Hood, Oregon to Chiang Mai, Thailand has taken me 32 hours and 37 minutes, 3 transfers, about 11.5 hours in layovers, and 2 different airlines. From Portland which for me is a very easy and relaxed airport, I flew Alaskan Airlines to Seattle where I transferred to ANA Airlines to make another transfer from Tokyo, Japan. The gentleman I sat next to was very kind and informed me which taxis to avoid and which ones were the best. They feed me 2 meals that met my diet restrictions and gave me as much sake as I wanted until lunch and dinner service was through. All that sake led me to have a tipsy yoga bathroom  sesh  on that 10 hour and 20 minute flight.  When arriving in Tokyo it was around 16:40 their time and the airport was very alive. For me it was easy to get to where I would catch my next flight. There was lots of options for food, gifts, and duty-free purchases. I made a stop at a food court after finding my

The Change Jar

Image
It all starts with a jar...  For me it was a pickle jar(I have this habit where I don't like things finding their way to landfills so I find a way to avoid that when I can)... I started covering thus jar with stickers and began adding change too from my tips bartending, the cafĂ© I work at, and the coins left over from paying cash.  My problem with the jar was that I kept taking the change out of it for various reasons until the beginning of June of this year when I seriously started putting change in this jar and not taking out of it.  In that short 4 months I racked up $79.26 after the $2 fee at Clackamas County Bank! That potentially could build up to $320 if you don't touch it for a full year! The this concept is great. All you have to do is find a jar/container to add all the change to it until it's completely full and then cash it in for your next big adventure!
