Sun River, OR, USA Late Winter

I went up to Sun River, OR March 7-9, 2012. Not very many people were there while we were. All of the surrounding cabins were empty. The weather was nice, had a little snow fall but not much and was partly sunny. There is a little shopping area there called The Village, they have a nice bookstore, coffee shop, grocery store, a place to rent gear for snow activities, and more. Beautiful views and the cabins are neutral color so they do not distract your eye from the beautiful wild life. I will be going there again in the Summer and will provide more pictures.

Are you ready to adventure a whole island and see every beach it has to offer in a relaxing pace? Well here you go.  Then set sail from the piers in Pattaya near the Walking Street, the earlier the better. Signs are posted for by the ferries to leave at 08:00 but Robe and I got on one 15-30 minutes before hand for 30 BAHT each.  It’s a beautiful and relaxing ride there.  Haad Ta Waen Beach Upon arrival you see all the bright colored building and lush jungle.  We set foot to our first stop Haad Ta Waen beach which I would say way my least favorite other than the floating pier that really rocked your boat. The tide was high so there was no beach and it was over populated with tourists so we left quickly.  Samae Beach We then set foot over to Samae Beach. It was a gorgeous walk hitting a beautiful Viewpoint before a lovely lady stopped to give us a ride on her motorbike the rest of the way just to be nice! Vida Guesthouse, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Where to Stay in Chiang Mai, Thailand Upon arriving back to Chiang Mai, Thailand with no set place to stay I wandered the Old City in search of the perfect place. I wandered in and out of many places inquiring about prices and checking out the rooms. My new friend Paul had suggested using HostelWorld to find good, cheap places. With this lovely little website I found Vida Guesthouse where I spent the last 3 nights. This cute little guesthouse was perfect! The staff is very friendly and bilingual making communication a breeze. I did not book ahead a time, which when you do this you do not have to pay until the end of your stay. You have a little book with your room number and where you can log the drinks that you take from the fridge to be billed at checkout. My room was the perfect size, I don't need much since my time is spent out and about, only using the room to sleep, bathe, and take some short breaks to get away from all the stimulation. Elephant Haven, Kanchanaburi,Thailand

Finding My New Favorite Animal I arrived in Kanchanaburi, Thailand to get picked up from my guesthouse at 08:00 the following morning by some of the staff of Elephant Haven. I did not know that I would fall in love with elephants and never want to leave.  Upon arrival to stay overnight at Elephant Haven myself and the others got to meet a few of the ladies and had a quick run down of the history, along with safety guidelines.  From there it was time to make breakfast. Not for us of course but for the elephants. This consisted of rice banana balls and cutting watermelon. We met the rest of the herd and fed them their breakfast that they seemed very happy about. Then it was time for a stroll through the jungle where we got to observe how they lived their daily life and hangout with them.
